Grand opening parade

Palais des PapesYesterday afternoon saw the official opening of Avignon's annual theatre festival with a grand street parade of all performing companies, led by an elephant. A lively and colourful event which took place under a bright blue sky. The festival, which runs from the 8th to the 31st of July, will occupy much of my blog over the next three weeks. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Hier après-midi a vu l'ouverture officielle du Festival d'Avignon avec une grande parade des compagnies en costume, défilé conduit par un éléphant. Un événement vivant et coloré qui s'est déroulé sous un grand soleil. Le festival, qui se déroulera du 8 au 31 juillet, occupera une grande partie de mon blog dans les trois semaines qui viennent. J'espère que vous aimerez.

    Only at Avignon in Photos do we get elephants strolling the streets... with his trunk to the ground doing some vacuum cleaning, no wonder that little black dog is straingin so hard at the leash to get away from being vacuumed up... ;-D
