Waterfront dining

L'isle sur la sorgueDining on a footbridge overlooking translucent water, how's that for a romantic setting? In summer these few tables are among the most sought after in all of l'Isle sur la Sorgue but on that winter day the cold mistral wind was a strong deterrent. Things got even worse with the snow last Sunday, see below. I love before/after photos - these two were taken exactly one week apart. I wouldn't mind going back next summer for a very different atmosphere shot...

Déjeuner sur un petit pont piéton enjambant les eaux translucides de la Sorgue, peut-on rêver tête-à-tête plus romantique ? En été ces quelques tables sont parmi les plus convoitées de l'Isle sur la Sorgue mais en ce jour d'hiver les bouffées glacées de mistral décourageaient tous les passants. Mais ce n'était encore rien à côté de la neige de dimanche dernier, voir ci-dessous. J'adore les photos avant/après ; ces deux-là ont été prises à une semaine d'écart. Ca m'amuserait d'y revenir l'été prochain pour une atmosphère très différente...

    déjà le concept est original, j'adore....mais ta photo sous la neige , elle est grandiose (bizarre il n'y a pas de clients ;o) )

    Incredible. I too love before and after photos, especially when both are as beautiful as this! I wonder if those plants will survive. I've lost a lot of succulents this winter - who knows if they will make it back when the weather warm up - IF the weather warms up! Keep warm, Nathalie!

    Blanc pour blanc, le dais enneigé déployé au bout de la passerelle a bien plus de charme que l'auto !

    C'est effectivement un endroit charmant pour un dîner en amoureux, mais de préférence quand il fait beau. Vous avez été servis en neige cette année, c'est assez incroyable ça !

    Surprisingly enough, snow has completely disappeared. It started melting fast on Monday but then a cold front came through and whatever was left is still here.

    Chose rare, la neige n'est pas encore complètement partie. Lundi elle a commencé à fondre assez vite mais ensuite le froid est arrivé et ce qui restait ne fond plus.

    How lovely and romantic! But definitely not when it's snowing. ;)

    Is the bridge used by pedestrians even when there are diners? I would imagine that that would make things pretty awkward.

    Adam I was standing on the restaurant's main dining terrace.

    And Hilda my reply to Adam also answers your own question : only the people wanting to access the restaurant (which also has a main entry at the back) would take this footbridge. So in actual fact there is a bit of pedestrian traffic but not much.

    That's the thing about Spring snow.
    They fall hard and heavy and then voilà! - gone.

    Beautiful pictures with contrast in seasons. I personally prefer the pictures to actually going there during the summer because traffic and crowds are so bad, especially on weekends.

    De quoi décourager les plus enflammés, en effet ! D'ailleurs, qui a éteint les flammes des lampadaires ? Hein ? Je te demande un peu. Si ce n'est pas fait pour dissuader les romantiques enflammés ou affamés.
    Serait-on un peu fainéant pour laisser trainer son mobilier dehors sous les bourrasquse de neige ?

    Mais vous prenez de la hauteur, ma chère, pour nous faire de telles (étonnantes)photos ?

    Bravo pour ce neige et soleil. Bientôt la canicule...

    (Tables convoitées par les touristes pour l'eau qui file sous les pieds; sûrement pas pour l'assiette, l'Isle n'ayant pas trop bonne réputation en la matière hors quelques rares lieux que vous connaissez probablement...)

    Oh my! Truly a beautiful sight in any season. . .at least through your lens. I can't say I'd like to be in the cold at present ;^). I'm surprised the chairs were not put away until the weather was less threatening. I love both shots.
