Drifting away

Just visiting - realising I haven't posted anything here for over three years - ouch, it hurts.
Perhaps I should at least come back to say goodbye.

I remember my sense of bewilderment when sometimes in the past I've come across very inspiring blogs that had been abandoned from one day to the next, almost as if the author had run away in an emergency, leaving pen and paper on the writing table. How could they let down a project that they had obviously put so much into, without a word of explanation or goodbye?

What makes the life and death of things?
For me, it was definitely moving to the countryside that prompted the decline. Avignon was a wonderful town to explore in photos, vibrant, lively, and very stimulating after my seven years in Australia. It was also a time when as a recent divorcee, I had plenty of time to devote to solitary photographic wanderings and night-time photo editing.

Nothing was quite the same after I moved to Beaumes-de-Venise in 2013. While this charming Provençal village sits among fantastic landscapes of vineyards and olive groves, it doesn't offer much to report on. Exploring the full cycle of the vine for a year was great fun, but would I want to do it again each year? It was clearly the lack of material worth publishing that brought this blog to a withering stop. When I published my last post I had no idea it would be the last...

But visiting again today I'd like to say how grateful I am to this blog for the hours of joy it has brought me, and to my wonderful readers around the world for their supportive, interesting and fun comments - ten years, would you believe? It's been a fantastic experience. THANK YOU so much! Goodbye to all.

---------------------
