Snow in Joucas
After Gordes as you continue further east along the southern slope of Monts du Vaucluse, another ancient village appears around the bend : Joucas, lit by an unexpected flash of sunlight.
Following an old trail I walk up to the top of the village where gorgeous views await. Both the cluster of rooftops hugging the hilltop and the vineyards and orchards below speak of centuries of human presence on this land.
In front of the church, on the quiet and empty village square where few foot steps have marked the snow, a low lying body magnified by the snow emerges from a cold white blanket.
This is the work of a remarkable couple of artists, Marion Heybroek and Ulysse Plaud who live here and for whom the village has become a showcase of a few of their master pieces. I'll tell you more about them in my next post. In the mean time check out
their website here.
