Is there a trend for street art to move to the country? In the plains of Villeneuve lès Avignon some 4 kilometres out of town, I found an old stone shed hosting a portrait of Bonnie Parker (
Clyde Barrow's partner in crime, 1934) as well as other works on two other walls. Just a little further, another roofless 'cabanon' hosts two more : a gramophone and a starlett (perhaps Marilyn Monroe?). All works are signed
Arkane. Was the artist running out of city wall space? Does he have an arrangement with the farmer? I have no idea.
Now for the photo below please trust me, I didn't place the little snail straight into Marilyn's eye, he chose the spot himself, isn't that fun? (Have you ever tried to get a snail to hold on a vertical surface when it's dead scared coiled right up inside its shell? It would never work.)
