Over the border

Bordighera, Italia

What a difference a day makes. On the day after my hike in the misty hills with Jilly I was a few kilometres away just over the Italian border in the small village of Bordighera. A strong wind had brought sparkling blue skies, everything was postcard perfect : the small fishing harbour, the fisherman repairing his yellow nets whose colour was a perfect match for his oilskin pants, the hilltop village with its colourful houses and traditional terrace cultures of flowers and fruit...
... the endless beach complete with handsome windsurfer taking a rest on his board, the turquoise and ultramarine Mediterranean sea, the odd wave bringing entertainment to the old man who'd brought his chair by the sea, the three-mile long promenade where everyone was out enjoying the sunshine... do I get paid by the tourist office for my report?
C'était le dimanche 1er avril. Demain on rentre à Avignon. The day was Sunday April 1st. Tomorrow we'll be back in Avignon.

I would need proof that the windsurfer were handsome, Nathalie. He does look as though he has caught one gale too many.

The old man with his white chair way down on the pebbles is a delight. Did the woman, I ponder, help him drag the chair down there? Will he, at the end of the day, take her arm, and together, they hobble back up to the promenade?

Gorgeous photos of a great place. Of course you should be paid by the tourist office - so should I - pigs should fly!

Your post shows so clearly how the weather can change so very quickly down here.

All shots are wonderful but I especially like #3, a typical Mediterranean scenery. Great post!

Apart from the blissful beach, what struck me were the flowers - red hot pokers they're called here. In Scotland they flower in August, once it's warmed up enough.
