Your dream holiday?

Continuing yesterday's visit. Renting a country house in Provence makes for very relaxing holidays. Be prepared for isolation if you want to rent this one though: the nearest village is several kilometers away. No little cafés or bakery round the corner. Is this your idea of a dream vacation?

The house as seen from the pool area. Notice the pigeon holes in the tall tower? The dovecote has been converted into a bathroom; the original hollows in the wall remain apparent inside and serve as shelves - a stylish decoration idea. The outdoor eating area I was showing yesterday is on the top right. There are several other outdoor sitting areas around the house to suit every time of day and weather condition.

I could stay here or even live here. Solitude is often good for the soul!

oh, yes! Where do I sign up to rent this lovely place? We were acquainted with Sylvie Lallemand at Les Megalithes just outside of Gordes. She used to run a cooking school from her house. She also used to rent out her house during the month of August and it was always my dream to spend the entire month there. We had many lovely walks in the Luberon. You make me want to do it all over again ...

I think I could stay there happily for a week before I got a bit antsy. A week by the pool with a sack load of books, preferably with no internet connection to way-lay me.

Then I'd like to get back to somewhere more urban cos one of my VERY FAVOURITE things about staying in France is getting fresh bread every morning!

So, maybe a week here, then moving on down to our villa at Cassis for a month, then over to somewher elike Cap Martin for another.....hmm....did I buy that Lotto ticket this week?

Have a lovely weekend; it still looks very hot there!

This part of France is one of my absolute favourites. From your photographs I can almost smell the woodsmoke on a winter's day and the herbs during the summer.

This is such a lovely place! I'd love to visit Provence again one day and stay in a house like this for at least a week or two before moving on to the next destination.

I could definitely stay here! But I also love little Provencal villages. As Sally remarked...walking to the boulangerie each morning for fresh bread, a croissant, whatever is my idea of heaven! I want to sign on to rent Sally's villa at Cassis as well! Thanks for your lovely photos. I adore Provence.

Apart from Paris, it was the Luberon that caused me to fall in love with France. No surprise there. It's the most heavenly area - all those magic villages, the smells of the garigue - just fabulous - love these photos.

Hi Nathalie

I'm chuffed you had a look at my swimming blog....my little obsession! I fit it when I can. Sometimes I will spend hours researching (like the current Olympic series) and maybe do a couple of hours or more at night...other times it's just a matter of uploading my own pics and relatively little comment. The post on the Olympics up to WW@ took about 2 nights. I realised the enormity of what I have bitten off when I started lookign at the biographies of the swimmers and got really interested in them.

Now I've got a bit of a plan to go and visit sites in Sydney connected with them....but nit before I finish up to Beijing. That will take quite a bit of time.

Bergson the house can fit 13 people using all beds - we could indeed have a nice blogger reunion there. There's plenty of space to put up your tent in the garden. There are only two bathrooms and toilets though, and some water restrictions: the house uses water from a spring nearby and this year the supply has been very low.

:-)) Bon OUIKEND

Yeah Delirium, nice to see you here.

Nathalie, when my friends and I visit Provence for two weeks early in October we will be staying at ST ANDRE DE ROQUEPERTUIS which I gather is 45 minutes north west of Avignon. This post of yours is just so relevant for the three of us. I am sending a link to both of them so that they can enjoy your blog, too.

Thank you.
