For your garden

Would you buy those little angels for your garden? If so, this place near Le Thor has everything you need: old and rusty antique garden gates and furniture, Anduze vases, stone lions or frogs, heavy bronze sculptures of bulls or elephants, cast iron cats or cocks for your wind vanes, semi-naked nymphs pouring water, all in all an amazing collection of animals and goddesses. But no garden gnomes. Now that's surprising. I must have missed them. Any statues in your garden or on your balcony?

I'm amazed with Your photos! It seems there's some standard in photographing Provence. Glad to find another perspective.

It may just be garden bric-a-brac but this assortment of stuff just looks so French. Well, possibly Italian. You've put it together into a very nice composition. We have a similar store but it tends more towards giant suits of armor, elephants, generally things much less delicate than putti.

Thank you very much for your kind comment on my blog the other day. I am flattered and honored. I'm sorry I don't leave as many comments as I should with my CDPB friends when I get sucked into my usual time whirlpool. Your work is consistently interesting and charming. I look over your posts even if I don't often get around to leaving a note.

My wife and I are visiting France in April for our anniversary, if only just Paris. My French is pretty bad but I'm working to improve it.

Beautiful shot. I love this kind of stuff.

Don't let Bob fool you. His French is very good. Well a whole lot better than mine! I love these garden cherubs. Wish my yard was large enough for them. Oui, tres francais, and tres jolie .

Two comments I would like to add:

1. regarding the depth of field in my previous photo, it was achieved using the macro photography option on my camera (a Canon G7 powershot). I'm really pleased with this feature.

2. It's been very cold since yesterday and there's a snow fall forecast for tomorrow over Avignon. That's pretty rare here so I'm jumping up and down and getting the camera ready. I hope the sky delivers!!!

Oh !

A fascinating photo. I love the various states of rust and decay, and yet how proud all of the objects still look. They're just waiting for a good home!

I know a similar place in Hungerford, England where they have a large outdoor park filled with this kind of brick a brack, but I don't know who they are selling to. Who has space for such statues in their gardens?

I'll pass on the statues, thank you, but the iron pieces look and sound mighty interesting!

I do like wrought iron so I may purchase that, but like Hilda not the statue.

Yes, a statue of a mariner smoking a pipe and leaning on what might be a harpoon. He's part of a fountain.

Just love these sort of places. There are a couple in Nice, one in Menton and yes, I'm always tempted to buy when I'm there - I love even old rusty items. They look so good in a garden but the statuary is beautiful of course.

I used to buy angels and statues for my garden. Some were big and heavy but they were all molded out of cement and over time, with our freezing and thawing winters, they began to fall apart -- one piece at a time. Now, I only have some Japanese sculpture left, one lamp and one of Buddha.

I still have the old blogs but I also have new ones Abe Lincoln Blogs and also look at Abraham Lincoln's Blog

My garden is under a foot of snow right now with my lilly pads, baths, iron works, and pagoda peeking out a bit.

I have no garden, no balcony! Actually - for this, you would need a park!

MmeBenaut said...

Yes, I have one tiny statue and I'd love to have these in my garden!

I would love to shop here!

As for my garden, I have a cat, a garden gnome and a buddha. They coexist peacefully.
