Stormy Sunday

Tennis Club Villeneuve
I went for a walk at 6:30 pm on Sunday yesterday while my daughter was playing mixed doubles in a tennis tournament at her club. When I saw how dark the sky was getting, I turned around fast and managed to get back to the club house just as the first heavy drops hit the ground. The rain came down hard but was short-lived: fifteen minutes later the evening sun was out, casting long golden shadows on the wet courts, and the highly-motivated players started wiping water off the courts. I joined in after taking these few photos. After another pause to let the courts dry out, my daughter was able to resume her game; I am pleased to report that she and her partner won. What was the weather like in your part of the world last weekend?
Alongside the tennis club, a field of young wheat enjoyed the shower.

Dear Nathalie,

I didn't even know that a Croatian Tourism Department has organized a contest. I like it very much! Excellent way to promote Croatia and all its beauties!
As for the regions, they are all very beautiful in it's on way, so it is very important to know what are you preferences and what would you like to see.
Although I'm sure you have already searched a bit - Kvarner, Istria and Dalmatia are on the coast so if you like sea any of it will be a great choice. All three regions are rich with cultural heritage so you won't miss that either. But, my suggestion would definitely be Dalmatia, because the towns Split and Dubrovnik are there, and they are must-see. Split has a magnificent roman palace of emperor Diocletian and Dubrovnik is definitely one of the most beautiful renaissance towns to see and is very well preserved.
Regions Lika (including town Karlovac), Slavonia and Central Croatia are on the north part of the country and are interesting if you like nature. Central Croatia includes the Croatian capital Zagreb which is very interesting, and lots of smaller towns and castles in the region.
So, bottom line is, I would suggest you Dalmatia, Istria and Central Croatia.
If you have any more questions, please do ask. Especially if you need more information on other regions.

Wish you lots of luck with a contest!

I so love the way you draw us into your life, dear Nathalie. Love the photos too. What did I do last weekend? ArtMonaco which was quite a treat - so much extraordinary contemporary art, the Monaco Historique Grand Prix (I went in to photograph the cars)and a great brocante in Menton (the biggest of the year) on Sunday (you'd have loved that!)

Oh ! :-)
