"All is so quiet. The beach is deserted. Tiny waves caress the sand with their foam. A seagull perched on the pier looks at the horizon. In the clear morning light I write a prayer, and it flies away, and it is fulfilled. My phone rings. You will be here tomorrow."

A wall, a piece of chalk, poetry - magic. I found this poem next to the window where I had found this one back in January (a stolen pot plant, does that ring a bell?). Today's post is dedicated to the elusive Mr. Benaut who will be arriving later today with beautiful Madame Benaut. I'm waiting for my phone to ring.

I really like the concept of writing with chalk, which is easily removed with water. Spontaneous poetry can appear in the streets with none of the disastrous side effects of common graffiti. The ephemeral nature of these messages make them even more poignant.

Update on yesterday's post: they just started picking the nectarines today. There's four of them this time.

I well remember the poem about the stolen plant. And now another beautiful poem. Avignon seems to be such a wonderful creative place. I love that. Well you live there for starters...

Hello !

Nathalie, thanks for the comments on Menton DP. But there's nothing I can teach you. Au contraire. I was advised, in artificial lighting to change the White Balance to the Tungsten setting. That's all. I didn't know that when I took this and took it in Night Setting automatic.

Natalie, So good to see creative poetry in a public place, one that can be safely removed instead of offensive graffiti. Re. your comment on my RNC post: Actually the downtown area was really quite safe, very quiet in the morning with more action in the afternoon and evening. My family was just being conservative because they knew I'd probably try to get close to the protestors, and that had the potential of unpleasantness. I humoured them and stayed home, but now I wish that I hadn't. Other bloggers have come up with some interesting snapshots and I'm green with envy.

Oh this is just lovely, and as you said, not offensively permanent as grafitti. I went to your previous post. Amazing.
