Straight Face

Rue Ferruce
The Châtelet (which means "little castle") is the fort giving access to the Pont d'Avignon (St Bénezet Bridge). The old drawbridge which used to protect access to the bridge is still there. This particular tower of the Châtelet looks amazingly like a face...

Outstanding. This absolutely looks like a face. It looks like it is medievel-art-deco in design.

Bises Nathalie !

That's really funny - it must have been done deliberately. Actually, it looks a little like the statues on Easter Island.

Sais-tu se c'est voulu?

I suppose the people who built it knew what they were doing and I am guessing that they made it this way as a kind of eternal joke. It sure looks like a face.

he he great photo!

Ou sont les Benauts? I'm a little concerned, are you? Strange for them to disappear without saying anything.

So it does. I've never noticed this. I wonder if it was intentional that it should look like a face? I suppose not.

How lovely is this beautiful stonework.

I loved your building yesterday too. As you say, such lovely architecture with beautiful proportions.

I just read on Abraham's blog that you have fooled us - well certainly you fooled me. Very funny! And there I was believing every word you ever say, dear Nathalie!

All right Jilly, I'll let it out. Yes, my good friend photoshop helped me a bit on this one. I hope everyone enjoys the joke.

Allez allez, j'avoue.

That's a beautiful stylized face!

Aha. On looking more closely at the photo one can see how it was "built". Clever.
