Tout change

The world changes. Everything changes. Above is the Cid Café on place de l'Horloge at 7:30 am this week. Below is the same café a few months ago at 9:00 am. The cane chairs have been replaced by new white ones. More stylish possibly, but the previous ones looked more comfortable. What do you think?
In the meantime the world is holding its breath in the wait for the results of the US presidential elections. Will Barack Obama bring the change that many hope for?

I'm first!! Oh yes the older chairs have so much more character. The white ones look like so -so places here in the U.S. Pray that our country makes the best choice everyone!

No question that the woven ones have more character and will be cooler if the weather turns hot and/or humid. I plan on casting my ballot early in the morning and will take a picture at my polling place to post tomorrow . . . heavy turnout is expected.

The older ones - absolutely.

I'm with your sentiments on the US election and OBama. See Monte Carlo DP where you can vote with a candy! And the Obama jar is winning...

A voté.

What a pity le Cid Cafe changed their furniture. The old chairs were definitely more comfortable and being cane were more natural and aesthetically pleasing. The warm tones of the cane look much more welcoming than the newer chairs. So glad you took photos of how it was before it was too late.

Such a shame what they've done. I wonder why they did it. Perhaps because the new chairs are easier to stack and unstack? Perhaps they are narrower and therefore they can fit more tables and chairs in?

I think Barack will definitely be a breath of fresh air for the US. They need someone vibrant and younger and not a too old, hackneyed fellow. But that's just my opinion.

I'm going to go against the flow and plump for the new chairs....I'd like to try them out at least!

I like the old chairs much better. The new ones look so plain and cheap, no style to them at all. Love the photos :)

Bring back the old ones! Chairs, that is. The other 'old one'? Hope he doesn't get elected. I cast my vote for Obama by absentee ballot two weeks ago even tho I could have voted this morning. I didn't want to take any chances!

Those older chairs were much better. They have more character.

I don't know if you will learn the results before we do or not but we are listening to the radios and watching or listening to television sets. Obama is leading in the polls but McCain has not given up and I don't think he will. If we can win in Pennsylvania and Ohio and a few other states then the election will be over and Obama will win. Or so we have been told. I still look for more dirty tricks by the GOP who are still blasting Obama with some really dangerous remarks.

I have a couple of more posts about Obama for tomorrow and the next day and then I will get back to normal.

merci.

This is a no-brainer.
Plastic does not breath, and besides, nothing sits as comfortable as a well-loved/worn cane chair - bring back the 'Cain' chairs - but not for the Oval Office!
Obama will win!

DOWN with white plastic chairs! The cane ones were a symbol of French cafes.

Bergson said...

yuck - plastic. More stylish? More easier, more like...
