Canal fishing

We're experiencing wonderful Indian summer temperatures at the moment with quiet and warm days perfect for outdoor pursuits. Parallel to the Rhone, which is a pretty wild river, runs a canal not used for traffic but as an overflow in case of floods. I have no idea what sort of fish you can catch in there but I loved this peaceful father-and-son fishing scene when I walked past last Saturday. The father was fly fishing, a fascinating movement to watch. Do you like to go fishing?

Well I don't like to fish really but I love it when friends do and bring me what down here we call a "mess of fish" ( enough for a good fish fry). This is an absolutely gorgeous shot of this special moment between father and son. What a treasure.
PS I have narrowed the photos to about 3. Is that ok? You may have 3 or more!:)( Then can I addsome?)

Such a peaceful scene. I rarely fish, but I like to if they are biting.

We had a short lived Imdian Summer. I'm a vegetarian, not for me. My partner though used to go all the time. Beautiful scene.

Nice. The banks are not covered with litter as in old tires, cans and paper trash. It must be a different country where people can spend some relaxing time together.

I hate to badger you with my country and our problems but the comparison is often stark. The reality is that here where I live in America, the banks of that canal would be covered in trash. Possibly discarded stoves and refrigerators.

Although I must say, to be perfectly honest about it, we are better now than we used to be. You don't see many refrigerators and kitchen stoves. Nowadays there are more old television sets than stoves.

We do have some serene places like this but those are overgrown with people standing around with hands on hips, huffing and puffing and wishing they had stayed at home.

I don't like fish Nathalie so I don't like fishing. I'd rather someone else catch and scale and cook it for me. LOL

I have been fishing once in my life. I was next to my brother, perhaps two metres away. We were using identical rods and identical bait. After a couple of hours he had caught 14 fish, and I none. So I demanded that we switch spots. He caught another 8 fish, and I remained fishless.

I have not been back since!
