Snow storm

Rue de la Bonneterie
There was a forecast for snow yesterday - what thrilling news, snow is so rare here! I wasn't to be disappointed: the sky delivered from about 11:00 to about 3:00 pm and what a wild storm it was!

My favorite boulangerie patisserie (bakery / pastry shop) riding the snow storm.
Ma boulangerie-pâtisserie habituelle dans la tourmente.
More snow photos in the coming days...

Ha! That lady in the first picture could really do with a 'bonnet'!

Wonderful pictures in very difficult conditions!

Hi Nathalie
I have a flat cap that I use for days like this, maybe a little old fashioned but very practical for heavy snowfall.
You have captured this weather very well.

That wasn't just a small flurry either. These are great pictures. I'm surprised at the amount of snow that fell. It's especially fun to see the snow on the palm tree.

This weather is nice for photos, but I guess you prefer when it's over! Good of you to make the effort to go outside, just to serve us other bloggers! Bravo!

Nathalie, I have visions of you scurrying all over town snapping photos. These are just beautiful. Can't wait to see more!

Ben dis donc !

Oh great snow photos, Nathalie. I wish that first lady had a hat! And good for you going out in it.

We had snow forecast but in the end it never arrived - on the hills above Gorbio, but not in the village so far.

Look forward to more snow pics. They are beautiful.

Wow these photos are amazing! Especially that top one. You should offer it to the local newspaper. I am sure they will take it.

When you get snow like this, I was wondering whether shops close up for the day or whether they just brave through?

Nathalie said...

Kris, the interesting thing is that last Wednesday was the official opening day of the Sales period, traditionally a very busy time for retail. But the snow disorganised it all and customers braving the snow were rare. Since the snow only started around 10 or 11 am, the shops had already opened and remained open throughout the day. Some closed a bit early though because the staff were worried about how they would get home.

How bizarre for Provence! Europe seems to be having a hard winter. Please warm it up before we get there. These pictures really grab my attention, particularly because we have had so little snow here.

Kris said...

Empty shops?

Sounds like my kind of sale!

Thanks for answering my question.

We are having 12 inches of snow tonight. I often wish I were in Provence where it is warm, instead of New York near the Great Lakes and their "lake-effect" snowfalls. Perhaps I should be careful what I wish for!

Bergson - no, I didn't make a snow man, I was too busy taking photos. Pity though because I love doing that. Next time ;-)))

I am shocked my these scenes here Snow.

Wow, these photos are incredible Nathalie. You obviously braved the snow to go out and take photos! Such a difference to the delightful summery days and evening we had in Avignon!

Is the snow still there after 2 days, or is it dry again?
Here,in my Sologne, we still have 6cm. And as the temperature is still below -3°C (at 1.00pm), it doesn't melt...

Nathalie said...

Thib - most of the snow has gone now, but there are patches left in north-facing areas.

I really do love snow. I can't get enough of it. Maybe I will have had my fill by March when I want to garden. Very pretty pics and I love seeing the palm in front of the bakery whipping around. I hope it's ok.

I can't get enough of that snow! It's really coming down, isn't it! Of course, it's real pretty here on my monitor, because I don't have to be out in the cold. Still, I wouldn't mind playing with that snow a little bit ;) Awesome shots.
