Fly over

I discovered recently that in season paragliders take off from up the hill behind our house and land in an empty field in the plain below. Taking advantage of ascending winds they can spend long moments up there making sweeping curves along the face of the hill until they decide to land. Beautiful to watch.

The second picture looks like they are provided with a comfy chair to fly in. Who would ever want to touch down?

These fun photos really brought back memories for me. We lived on 10 acres on the side of a mountain for 19 years, until we sold it and moved to town in late 2011. Well above us in the mountains was a popular launch point for paragliders and hang gliders, and their landing spot was below us, so we'd get to see a lot of this sort of sight on pretty days. We loved watching them catch the thermals and spiral gently above us with the sun shining through their sails - sometimes sharing the thermal with a hawk or eagle. Isn't it fun to see? It looks like fun to do, too, though I never have. How about you?

This is one of my favorite pictures that you have posted recently. It's so free and I can feel the wind and that feeling in the pit of your stomach like you are flying and also the fear of the adventure.
It's amazing what you see when you look above.
Thanks for sharing!
