Sunday flea market in Carpentras

Sunday flea market in Carpentras. We were there last Sunday at 9.30, expecting the market to be in full swing and thinking we'd missed the best opportunities which, as everyone knows, can be had at 6.00 am at the back of the truck, but we were wrong: merchants were just starting to set up. How come so late, we asked one of them? He explained that this particular market, unlike most others, requires merchants to be there at 6.00 for placement but forbids them to unload their trucks before 9.30 (10.00 am in winter), and the rule is strictly enforced. He wasn't sure why; perhaps in order to avoid noise disturbances to the neighbourhood? Anyway by walking slowly we saw the stalls fill up. We bought a few books and had a good time. Went home for lunch with the first strawberries of the season.
Flea market in Carpentras ; every Sunday 10 am - 6 pm

Sounds like an odd rule. Strawberry lunch sounds nice.

My eyes fall on the Tom Clancy book. Red Rabbit's the point where the quality of his books took a steep nosedive off a cliff.

Not only good buys but a feast for photographers. We now have a weekly one from spring to fall in the courtyard of an old, hulking, out of business brewery. I but you got several good shots.

A very interesting comment, dear William. I must say I don't know enough about Tom Clancy's work to agree or disagree on that. Shame on me.
