Vignes nues d'hiver après la pluie : un coin de ciel bleu, une flaque, un reflet.
Bare vines after big winter rains : a growing pocket of blue sky, a puddle, a reflection.

Along the walk near Paty Lake I mentioned in a previous post, we
reached the little chapel of our Lady of the Victory where a tiny spring
fills a small stone basin with pure water. Alas the surface was spoiled
by an oil spill - very small, no more than 4 inches in diameter but
distressing in such a idyllic spot - great rainbow colours though.
Texture, wood. At first I figured these shutters had originally been painted yellow but that colour would be totally atypical in the region and in fact it's a kind of lichen. Then I noticed that while the shutters appears well weathered, the window itself looks very new - perhaps with double glazing? The government is currently offering large tax rebates to home owners who improve their house's energy efficiency but they must take at least two measures at a time : for example changing the windows AND putting in better roof insulation or changing the boiler. We're looking at options for our place because energy-wise this old stone house is a nightmare.
Another view of snowy Mount Ventoux, mid afternoon this time, from the hill above the village of Beaumes-deVenise.
Dried flowers found on a walk not far from home last weekend. The late afternoon light did the trick.
