The weather and me

View from my dining room today at 1 pm. Wanted to share it with you, it's so spectacular. Stormy weather forecast for today with mild afternoon temperatures in the 55°-60°F range (around 15°C). At last the freezing mistral has loosened its grip. It was about time, I could take it no more. I spent the last few days trapped at home, incapable of coping with the intense cold and predatory wind that burns the sinuses and petrifies the body. At last I now breathe again. In the mild air I can feel my knotted body relaxing, all tensions easing up, I could go dancing in the streets! Have you ever felt that way?

(You'll recognise the view already shown on October 30th, but the light is totally different)

I've felt so miserable in the past few days that I had no energy for taking pictures of Avignon. I owe to the truth to say that my previous photo was not taken here but at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, one of Sydney's oldest yacht clubs, very active on the regatta scene.
The white lines are reflections of the rigging of few drydocked sailboats above. I repeat that the photo suffered no post-processing.

What a view. One of my favourite areas in France.

That's such a lovely view. So urban and so melancholic, I think.

Oh, and yes, I usually feel that way every April ;).

This is wonderful photo you have posted.
I too use to be feeling the way you have felt in the past few day. As for me, it is enough to see the light of the sun to start feeling better. I had been feeling awful for days before our first snow arrived several days ago, but before its time. I am now feeling better. The ray of the sun can make my mood. I slightly get to use to this changeable weather. As for you, I think you really miss Sidney, the hot weather, the sun I hope you will be feeling better soon, I really wish you that. :-)

A view like this would send me dancing into the streets too!

So glad you can breathe again - I consider breathing one of the more important bodily functions ;-)

That is a nice shot, Nathalie. What's more, it was nice that you could share your feelings with us. I, too, am glad that you are feeling so much better.
Thanks,
Wayne

Should you not rather do your dancing rather on the "pont" (... on y danse)?
There are so many pluses with Avignon so I think you have to accept the mistral now and then ... and the sky gets so blue!

Quelle belle photo !

but you even could dance on the roofs....and soon singing in the rain... blelel lumière..il ne manquait que la grâce des petits pas a la dentelle des papautés..

Well, you must consider yourself very lucky with this beautiful view and surroundings!

Fine Mistral piece, Nathalie. Summed it up nicely for all the world to understand.

Oh my you just described Chicago's weather today--very cold, wet and dreary and dark...when it's like that, I can't take photos either--it's just more difficult to be inspired--it makes me sleepy all day...I'm hoping the sun comes out soon.

So go ahead and dance in the streets! Celebrate the beautiful day (and the view)!

I get cabin fever sometimes when I feel like I have to leave the apartment regardless of the weather outside. It rarely happens but I know the feeling. As soon as I get outside, my body relaxes and I can just walk for miles -- great way to clear the mind.

Gosh. That is a beautiful photograph.

Bien amicalement.

The image is sublime, what a sky. Yes, I have felt like dancing in the streets. Often after seeing your photos. :)

And, I deleted all the extra comments at flying, hehe. Don't you hate when that happens?

I know this sort of scene and weather - it is quite palpable - and not so easy to capture on film. I'm afraid though that I am a man of the cold weather - nothing like wrapping up warm and seeing your breath freezing in the air in front of you. I guess that's the difference between a Scottish upbringing, and a Provencal one. I'm not sure where you are from originally Nathalie, but if you felt at home in Sydney, I'm guessing....

Nathalie - when I first came to live in France (from Australia) I lived in Avignon - just for a few weeks and the day I arrived, the Mistral was blowing - and it continued for nearly 9 days. I couldn't stand without holding onto a lamp post, it was freezing cold, I was so miserable and depressed. Much of what you feel probably comes from the Mistral. It's bad news. But when it's not blowing, oh what a wondrous place is Avignon and the villages around.

At least you have the view for consolation when the Mistral blows Nathalie. This photo is even more beautiful than the last view from one of your windows.
