High above the city of Chambery in the Alps, the huge Nivolet Cross is a great destination for a day hike. It is only accessible on foot. The shortest access is via the crest hike, a one-hour walk from the small ski resort of La Ferclaz. That's what we did. The views are spectacular from up there.

A few words of explanation: I have lots of recent photos of Avignon in my camera but I'm having difficulty downloading them on my computer. I am therefore finding myself digging out older photos from out of town. A problem soon to be solved I hope.

Nathalie... never worry about digging out older pictures as I love all of your photography. This walk would be wonderful and those views are superb.

And the second picture shows the charm of the French countryside. Over here, the fields would be rigid rectangles.

Summer in our area came in like a furnace but is going out like a waterfall as the remnants of Hurricane Isaac pass over us.

Summer is already passing, so anything that prolongs the moment is welcome. I love the soft, billowy feel to the first image.

Jolies photos.

More than happy to see anything from anywhere you care to share with us all, as your take on life never fails to refresh. There must be "grandiose" views from up there.

Another memory of summer worth visiting here :

The view is of course fantastic, but I feel that the first photo really represents what you say - un souvenir d'été!
