Lavender in July

Visited the high hills east of Mount Ventoux a couple of weeks ago and was delighted to find the lavender fields in bloom. I didn't have time for a real photo shoot but these candid shots will give you an idea of these landscapes' unpretentious and rugged beauty.

Reminds me of the lavender fields of Sequim-Dungeness Valley on the Olympic Peninsula here in the U.S.

Beautiful. I have never been in France when the lavender was in bloom.

Just beautiful. I was on Pinterest just a short time ago and there are some iconic views of the lovely lavender fields. But your shots show the reality of the whole scene, and I love this rugged beauty. Thank you for sharing.

Very beautiful, even in this candid state. Lucky you to live near here.

One of the great beauties of Provence. When I was in Maine last week it was all blueberries and lobster.

The dream of Provence. There is a famous garden in the Luberon where the designer has created a river of lavender. It meanders down his hillside like a snake.

Jilly - If you remember where that is, I think I'd love to go and see it one day!
