Café parisien

Paris

Across from Gare de Lyon station, L'European café in the rain. You've got to be grateful for electricity which turns a dark and cold night into magic. Are we aware of the luxury of it all?

It is good to periodically stop to take inventory of the many ways in which our lives are affected by energy and fossil fuel. Occasionally when a storm knocks out our power we are brought face-to-face with our dependence upon our many luxuries, which we take for granted.

Going to Paris for the holidays seems like a wonderful experience. Have fun and enjoy your time there.

I like the light and dark of the photo, esp. enjoy the traveler with the rolling suitcase. Wish I could take her place!!

It is a beautiful, atmospheric scene, Nathalie. You are right. We take our modern conveniences for granted, too much, don't we?

Thanks Kate for your holiday season wishes, unfortunately I'm visiting my mother because she's unwell so the purpose is far from festive.

Que serait Paris sans ses lumières ?
Je souhaite le meilleur pour ta Maman.

J'oubliais

We are as unaware and unappreciative of it as telephones, supermarkets and airplanes. We've walked through here a few times but not at night. The post makes me think of extreme examples like Times Square of just about anywhere in Tokyo.
