This isn't Amsterdam

Rue Corneille
Amsterdam is often described as a city of bicycles. No such thing here. On this Saturday afternoon no bikes are parked in the special spot offered to them behind the town hall. No velibs in Avignon either. I wonder if we'll have them one day?

Holiday? I would guess it is the holiday that accounts for the missing bikes.

Regardless, it's a great photo and a fine example of repetition! Textbook!

Abe, no, not holidays. Easter school holidays only start next weekend here and not even long Easter weekend since the photo was actually taken last Saturday. It was just a very ordinary Saturday in April.

I owe the truth to say that weatherwise today doesn't resemble my photo in the least. It's a rainy Easter weekend we're having to cope with here.

Funnily enough, Nice Matin today has photos of bikes along the seafront in Menton and nowhere to park them. I don't believe we have any bike parking places here at all and we need them!

Maybe it was just such a nice Saturday afternoon that everyone had ridden their bikes across the Rhone to go do some sunbathing on the Avignon beach ?

But really, France is a great country for so many things, but it is hard to understand why we can't be as intelligent as the Dutch as far as using alot more bikes instead of cars... we are behind also in turning to solar and wind energy, even simple things we all could do like switching to energy saving lightbulbs in houses, I see that many folks just aren't catching on that such efforts can make a difference... if we all pitch in... now, I'm going for a bike ride on this beautiful afternoon !

Tu as l'oeil ! Garde le !
Bien des amitiés en ce dimanche... A bientôt ! ByeBye !
