Venice of course

Gondolas and bridges, yes it's Venice of course. I had never been there before and the Doges city proved more of a delight than I had imagined. Our blogging trio went into camera overheating mode. Here's a selection of my best shots.

Hard to choose but I think the top one takes it, N. I like the "solidity" (not right word but..."presence" maybe???) of the water.

Blissful virtual tour. I am transported to a time of Venitian painters.

Nathalie, these are simply gorgeous. The second one knocks me out, especially when I click to see the bigger version. It looks like you missed the worst of the flood. Was St. Mark's Square under water while you were there? I have very ford memories of Venice.

Well now i don't know. At first I was voting for the hunk in the last photo then I got a grip and decided the top one that 'roon liked. Love the color. But Bob's choice of the second in the monotones is great and I like the boats. Oh well let's just say you did a marvelous job capturing Venice and I hope there will be more tomorrow??

Since Venice is sinking and the oceans are rising I would guess that this would not be the city one would want to retire in. Still, for those who enjoy lots of water everywhere it sure is number one. And the photos are exceptional.

Elle est trop photogénique cette ville ! C'est pas drôle...

Ah Venice - my favourite place...

Love them all - the first is such a beauty. I love also the one of all the gondalas moored (this is a scene you often see yet I think you've given it something different) the reflections, the angle. And so much water in the next - how high the water is - beautifully photographed.

As for the last one, what can I say - yes please. How delicious is HE!

Great selection Nathalie - and the previous ones. Captures the changing moods and views of Venice very nicely!

:-) bises!

Hi,
Here from Peter's blog.

Your photos are so very enticing, each one is of class.

Remind me of my visit to Venice.

I think I have been to your blog earlier as well.

Wonderful photos. I've had a chance to visit Europe, but I've never been to Venice. Maybe some day...

Fantastic! So glad you got there and you've "felt the magic". Is that gondolier out of Central Casting, or what!!!

MmeBenaut said...

I don't need to visit there now, I've seen it all! Fabulous photos again Nathalie but it seems so incongruous to me to see buildings rising out of the water. I can't quite get my head around it. I've always had a fear of drowning, even though I'm a strong swimmer, so perhaps that it is the reason.
Does it smell? Surely all that decay can't smell good.
MB raves about the place but I've never wanted to go necessarily. It sounds like you enjoyed it though.
