On my bedside table

How it got there I have no idea but I found this praying mantis on my bedside table the other day. In all American hotels there's a bible in the bedside table drawer. Can a praying mantis replace a bible? In the end it's all about praying isn't it? ;-)

And since you've all been very good, here's a day-time photo of the friend's pool that served as background to my "BIG" night-time photos of September 1st, taken from the same vantage point on the second floor balcony. No, this isn't Avignon but la Croix Valmer on the Riviera. Lucky me to get to experience such a gorgeous place.

Bonjour!Nathalie,

Wow, the "praying" mantis, that you discovered on your bedside table is... very beautiful!

Hmmm...I agree with you, one hundred percent.

What a "blessing" it was to be invited there!"

Stunning! My 7 year-old loves insects - I'm going to show this to him. I just know he'll love it as much as I do.

I like the way he's looking right into the camera.

Nathalie H.D. said...

Italian Peasant, Sharon - you're right, praying mantis have a way of looking you straight into the eye which is most fascinating. This one was definitely watching my every move as I took several shots of him from various angles. I released him in the garden afterwards of course.

claude said...

Cette propriété est tout de même magnifique !
"Ta" mante religieuse suggère quoi ? Une dévoration !...;-)))

Bizzz !... A bientôt Manthalie... sorry... Nathalie !...;-)

Michel Benoit said...

Michel Benoit said...

Us eskimos here in Canada well we love visions of your french riviera.

Mante, mante, reviens ! Ne disparais pas dans le jardin ! Faut que j'te cause !

Thank you very much for coming over and having a look at my sparrows. I have a lot of sparrows here and all kinds of sparrows as you know. I have more of those than all of the other kinds put together.

I enjoyed your post today and the photograhy. I have never been anywhere more exotic then Japan and I wore a uniform in those days. Your photos of your exotic places are a lot prettier than mine. Though I must add that mine are in a museum over there. lol

Every visitor counts, big time...

I came back because i forgot to answer your question on my blog. I can walk but not in heat or humidity or in cold weather. And when it is nice out I can walk but not far before I am out of breath. If I exert myself then I have to rush to hook myself up to oxygen. It helps get my oxygen level back up. There is a point where you can loose too much and brain cells begin to die off and that results in not being able to remember things. I don't know what the exact level is but people would panic at the hospital when it got down in the 80s. So I am supposed to keep it over 90 and the higher the better.

Fabulous!! I want to be there :-)- the Riviera pool that is.

The praying mantis shot is terrific.

About the Terrigal snap: it was taken from further along than the Crown Plaza - heading up the hill towards the headland. There is a small car park there. Lots of "yummy mummies" out baby jogging, and older people doing their morning constitutional!

Which town did you live in?

I loved your praying mantis! You are so lucky to be visited by such a special creature.

alors un petit conte de fées-

-Mante mante reviens du jardin. Il faut que je te cause.

-Ok.

Beautiful shot of your friend.
A Gideon mantis? ;)

I posted once about one who plopped on my window screen at midnight and joined me in praying.

Oh! I hate praying mantises. It's just one of those silly things but I like spiders and snakes but these horrible green things freak me out! I did not know that you got them in France - I've only ever seen them in South Africa.

I found your blog of Prodigal Wife's blog roll by the way and was just hopping across.
