1st March - Theme day

Rue de la république, AvignonMarch 1st - theme day for all bloggers of the City Daily Photo network. Today's theme : favourite part of town. Mine doubtlessly is the old city centre which local residents call "intra muros" (inside the walls). I could just as well say that my favourite place isn't a place, it's a light. What I truly love is the combination of light and shadows that brings structure and a new dimension to architecture and city life. Come on over for a stroll, you'll get my point. And then we'll travel the world - let's go and see other photo bloggers' favorite parts of their respective towns : Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

I'm with you. The walled old city of any city will always take first place. Your photos show why.

Wonderful. I like these narrow alleys too.

This would be my favourite spot as well. There is something about picture 2 that really captures the atmosphere of your city.

Although I haven't looked widely around all the city daily photo blogs that are out there, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than you do, tirelessly out there year round bringing back lovely photos to share with us, giving us a better view of Avignon than any other source imaginable, and probably inspiring more than one to want to go live there. I remember when walking around there a while back there seemed to be quite a few houses that needed the loving care a new resident would bring to them.

Oh, and that's a radio controlled pigeon, right ? How else would he get it to stand right there in the middle of that diamond pattern ?

Nathalie said...

Yes Owen, I got the pigeon to swallow the radio control device so it behaves as directed. I couldn't get itto fly on command though, the device is too heavy :-(

It's all about the light isn't it. Great choice. Love the first photo showing the light and dark.
