Snow from my window

We're not quite finished with our crime witness and I suspect he will resurface at some stage, but we'll have to leave him to his own devices for a while, I don't have time to write about him. Let's move on to the weekend's scoop: it snowed over Avignon on Saturday morning. How exciting! My daughter and I kept looking through the window to watch it fall, hoping for a thick white blanket. Snow is very rare in Provence, and even rarer in Sydney where we used to live so this was a treat... a short lived one sadly. Two hours later it was all over - this (viewed from our windows) is the best we got - yes, you've seen this view twice before here and there, I hope you enjoy the change that seasons bring.

On Sunday morning, white frost and thick fog covered the country and then around 11 am the sun came out, treating the white plains to a beautiful light and a little bit of warmth.

Hi Nathalie, Greetings back to you, and I too visit, but can't make as many comments as I did a while back. Life has become very much more crowded for some reason, with some major deadlines, then illness, then deadlines etc etc.

We are winding down for summer/Christmas, and I know you understand that means we go into a beach-induced national coma until about mid-January. I am SOOOOO looking forward to it.

But then my luck, as you know, is to have a double summer this year, with the Med in May-June. Oh, woe.

I am anticipating NOT seeing scenes like this (lol). But thanks for snapping it - beautiful shots as ever.

Oh, and I can understand why the site of all those beautiful summer fruits might make you a bit envious. My fridge is currently housing beautiful cherries and apricots....

I never saw this part of Provence under snow, although I'm a frequent visitor.
Your Sunday morning photo is really beautiful; somehow a different Christmas image!

You did get some snow. It looks nice on the berries or crab apples. Nice photos.

Thanks for visiting my place.

Wow, beautiful snow. I love seeing your view with the flakes.

And yes, that last shot is splendid, with the light behind. I feel an affinity with you even more since you love snow. :)

I never get tired looking at the scene from your window.

The last photo is so beautiful. I love the frost on the berries.

beautiful shots. I just love those buildings, such fabulous proportions and colours. Not sure whether or not to wish you more snow. You might regret it! Love the shot with the berries.

As pretty as your photos are and your enthusiasm contagious - no, thank you! Snow (or the lack of) is the main reason I moved to Florida!
But I wonder how did the local drivers fare? Unaccostumed to hazard weather driving, were there a lot of fender-benders?

(isn't Carla a bit tall for Mr Sarkozy? ;-))

The snow was never thick enough to hold in the streets, Isabella, so no traffic chaos.

It snows in Avignon?
Eek!
So much for my plans to retire to the south of France.
Brrr …

nathalie!

you're back in france. when did this happen? hope you've been well.

funny, i was thinking about you today and was hoping you'd read my new post on kldp. :)

these avignon shots are even nicer than your sydney shots. you really do love what you see, don't you? it shows and I want some berries, frozen or otherwise.

xx always

The red berries are so beautifully done...and YOU GOT UP EARLY to catch them before it all melted.

Strange you had snow down there. It's cold here...but the Gulf Stream still keeps the snow away from the South.

Chuckeroon I did not get up early.
This was taken at 11 am!
Before that, the country was trapped in a thick fog that kept the frost on.

Edwin it's wonderful to catch up with you. Will email you.

For me, the idea of snow in the south of France, although only a freak incident, makes it all the more attractive. It's beautiful - especially in small doses.

Warm weather year round - a bit boring... I like the drama that the seasons bring - and I get to wear a bit of cool-weather clothes!

Oh, the nature photo with those little red ??? (Hagebutten, fruit of roses) is sooo wonderful in the frost. Great photo.

This is the first time I'm moving around the Daily Photos in a long while due to being ill and being busy after recovering! :-) I didn't even know you had moved until today! Lovely photos...and of course, Avignon is so beautiful! Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas!
