Swoosh - Mistral

ZI CourtineMistral is the name of our cold winter wind, swoosh the sound it makes at it rages through the bushes. We're south of the city along the Rhone river bank, the old railroad bridge in the background. I only just learned that swoosh was also the name of the nike emblem.

Bonjour! Nathalie,
Both photographs are very beautiful...
...Do Swoosh equal(s) a cold dry northeasterly wind signaling winter?

I love the way each strand of the grass looks so individual. Such a great photo.

Nathalie,
So, you let go of colour and you achieved so much more.
You have gifted eye.
They now have mood and feel.
Do not be afraid to let them go darker. This will enhance the highlights and create more contrast in the overall feel as the midtones subside.
NEXT......

Marvellous images that make me cold and uneasy just looking at them. I so remember the mistral in Avignon when I lived there on my return from Australia. It blew for 9 days and nearly defeated me, clinging to lamp-posts sometimes when it swooshed too much! Fancy that - swoosh is the word for the Nike symbol. You learn every day and how nice to learn from you, dear Nathalie.

Absolutely stunning! You've made the grass look like fine strands of glass which I hear tingling in the wind.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The light is like golden honey. I have never experienced a mistral so I have no negative associations with it. These photographs make me love the mistral and the brush.

I remember a mild mistral one September day in Gordes. The market was underway and everyone was holding onto their hats. I think nine days of it would drive me insane. I'd have to wear headphones and listen to music.
Lovely photo, like someone said, the grass looks like glass.

Thanks Virginia and all for your kind comments, you all made my day :-)

I will only add that those photos suffered no post-processing at all, they are the natural result of a late afternoon light (6 pm).

The winds of peace Jedaen? Most people who experience the mistral would rather qualify it as "fast and furious" !!!

jedaen said...

WEll Nathalie it is because of the golden colour in the photograph that it becomes a wind of peace...juxtaposed with your text on victory but that is just one interpretation my interpretation.

If I had to visualize a fantastical wind of peace it would be golden....

Interpretations can be based on personal experiences or leaps of abstraction and fantasy n'est-ce pas?

jedaen said...

ofcourse the wind itself isn't golden but it is surfing golden.

jedaen said...

and for moi that makes it an exalting meditation.

jedaen said...

and maybe peace can be fast and furious....

Nathalie said...

Those who are truly at peace with themselves and the world would find peace even amidst the fast and furious, Jedean :-)

jedaen said...

yes Nathalie that is a beautiful thought that contributes to your exalting photograph,

also negotiations and interactions that lead to peace can sometimes require a lot of energy and speed of thought and action.I guess what I meant to say peace does not always mean calm.

BRAVO for the photograph! and I enjoyed the philosophizing.

belle journée magique.
a la prochaine.

jedaen said...

one other thing I should add that I feel compliments your golden photograph is that the bible refers from time to time as God being the wind.
I can just visualize a god combing the landscape....in your photograph.

jedaen said...
