Photo of the year 2011

Cathédrale Notre Dame des Doms, Avignon 'Photo of the Year 2011' is the theme chosen by City Daily Photo bloggers on this first day of 2012. I selected this one, 'Catholic leaving church', because I'm particularly happy with its composition and timing - the person's arm and shadow on the right really do it for me. If you follow this blog regularly, is there another of my photos that you would have selected instead of this one? For more 'Photos of the Year 2011' around the world click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

Of all the themes, this is the one I find most difficult, Nathalie. One nearly needs to mark potential choices as the year progresses. [Note to self].

May I wish you the very best of New Years? I hope it is filled with good health, with joy, and with laughter.

Happy New Year!. I like the shadows, both human and otherwise. Good pick for Photo of the Year.

Bon 2012! A bientot.

Very clever photo. The person adds life to what would otherwise seem lonely, but the shadows seem more mood-evoking and dramatic than a photo of the fence and lamp would have been directly.

Bonne Année a avignon-in-photos-belle continuation
tu nous gate Nathalie haha.

Have a happy new year!

This is serious and dramatic enough to deserve the picture frame. Add some fog and it could be a clip from a Hitchcock film. It's a photo of the year to be proud of.
