Rouge / red

Place Pie, Avignon

The colour red is the theme chosen by a local theatre company working on a play to be presented at  Avignon's next theatre festival in July. For several weeks now they've been placing open boxes at the covered market (les Halles) in order to collect unwanted red items from the locals. Anything red is welcome. Collected items are to be used as a source of inspiration or as props in the play. The large red sign hanging from the tree explores what the colour red can be associated with : blood, death, anger, energy, vibrancy, birth, desire, fire, noise, blushing and more... Here is the group improvising around some of these themes on Place Pie on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

I hope that one year we can time one of our annual visits to the Vaucluse so we can come to Avignon during the theater festival.

That certainly is a highly visual way to gain attention.
