Journée Phare West

Rue du Rateau
On Wednesday the Rue du Rateau, one of Avignon's small inner-city streets, was closed down for a children's fête called Journée Phare West, which depending on the spelling can be understood as Far west day or Western lighthouse day. Nothing to do with lighthouses but the pun implied that the connection with the American far west was loose and not to be taken too seriously. The full day event included loud music, a picnic lunch, dance show on stage, lots of games and fun activities such as totem painting workshop where I took pictures of this striking little girl. The second photo is slightly out of focus but I chose to show it nevertheless because of the interesting arm movement.

Congratulations to all participants!

'vais me reposer maintenant !...
Ciao bella Nathalie ! Bises !

Je craque sur la fillette...

Mais je repars :
1er thème (terminé) : "M'as-tu vu ?"
2e thème : "Fourmis"

She looks like a (very) young Audrey Hepburn.

Something similar is happening here today, but we're in Paris...and it's raining!

Amazing face on this child, which you've captured fabulously.

Bon we,

Hi Nat ! Great photo-montage here... for a minute I thought I'd opened "Peter's Paris"... (his latest graffiti piece is beautiful!) So, as usual, someone is having lots of fun strolling around Avignon, taking in all sorts of sights with her camera... maybe we could trade for a week or two... you could do my job, and I'll do photos in Avignon, just for a few months ??? What do you think ? And even your photo "flou" is fine... Bon dimanche !

So beautiful and serious in her art the "top girl"! ... and as you say, congratulations to all participants - and to you! :-)

I absolutely love both of these pictures. You have an amazing talent and have perfectly captured this child's imaginative character.

Amazing arm movement? What about the amazing expression? That's fantastic. She's just so into what she's doing. She looks so at peace and happy and devoted. This picture really just stopped me for a moment. I have such a love for art sometimes.

I love the way the photographs of that beautiful little girl makes me wonder; What is she thinking? Who painted her face? She looks so serious about painting, will she someday make money as an artist?
My favorite kind of photpgraphs are the ones that make me want to know more! Thank you for the lovely post :)
