What a difference

View from my window
A miserable rainy weekend we've had, but what a difference a day makes. I've always been fascinated by before/after photos. Here's a go at it: view from my window today at noon (top) and yesterday at 8:00 a.m. (bottom). Don't be fooled by the gorgeous ray of sunlight flashing through the clouds at sunrise, it lasted just a few minutes and the rest of the day was dreadful.

Wow, it's a study in light. Both are fantastic scenes, wonderful images. I envy you the view.

Sometimes you make comparisons with today and 100 years ago. Sometimes just one day is enough!

Wow! Well you have a gorgeous view no matter what the weather is like!

There is a difference and the sunshine seems to make us all feel better about everything including our surroundings. Nice shot.

what a great comparison, love the morning light colors on the second shot.

Beautiful Nathalie. We're doing the reverse - a sunny week and then rain for Anzac Day. The rain always arrives on 25 April. I have faith in nature, you see.

I agree with tanya. No matter the weather, where you've got a lovely view to the roofs. It's a scenery, where you can feel like touching picks of France ;)

Tu as une bien belle vue depuis ta fenêtre.

Love the comparison, and a terrific 'room with a view' you enjoy.
It is striking to see how the light changes in shadow and warmth. I bet that even in a rain shower or at night there is still a magical appeal from this vantage point!

I'm quite envious of your view. Stunning indeed! Have you thought of setting up a tripod and camera to chronicle this scene over a series of days, weeks or months? I'd be quite tempted to dedicate a camera to just that purpose if I had your window location.

In fact Chuck I'm almost doing that. I've got a number of other photos taken from there and from my other windows; check out "view from my window" in the side bar. There's one with snow on 15 Dec and one taken on a very stormy day on 20 Nov.

I plan to expand on that.

The 2nd photo is a glimpse of heaven before hell fell down. How beautiful et pittoresque!
