From theater to jazz

Rue du roi René
No sooner has a festival ended that another starts : four days of jazz music from 4th-8th of August. It's called Tremplin Jazz d'Avignon and this year is the 18th edition. Tremplin means springboard and the aim is to help young European musicians gain more recognition through a competition and the presentation of awards. Some concerts are free, some others feature famous names in prestigious locations, see the programme here. I might try to attend a concert tonight or tomorrow... You can view a great b&w photo report on the 2008 edition of the festival here.
Oh and by the way, this graffiti is new, it wasn't here a few weeks ago. Of course you will recognise these two famous faces ?

Generally, I'm not a fun of graffiti, but this one is really excellent :-)
Enjoy jazz music!

Are they Laurel and Hardy ?

! ! T'as qu'à voir Lascaux !
A plus Nat !...;-)

I like the idea of being able to see work done by aspiring young artists but graffiti is something I just don't condone unless it is done with chalk that will wash off in the rain.

I am still making history on my Pick a Peck of Pixels blog. Today I posted a Zebra Butterfly with long tails. He is as big as your hand. Most have never seen one. Now you can see one at

This reminds me of the English street artist Banksy who I like very much. Also so envious of all those festivals.
