Green stilleto

Place Crillon, AvignonDriving into the old town last night through a street I seldom take, I was surprised to see this huge green stiletto image on the rampart - can you see it? I only had a few seconds to take a picture through my windshield - sorry for the poor quality. It appears to be an image projected on the wall, but why ? What does it mean? What is it about? Can you guess? All suggestions welcome. Be creative!

If you wear stilettos in Avignon make sure you are carrying your carbon credit certificates proving your shoes are really green.

Deborah now that's my kind of explanation! Next time you know we'll find crop circles on Popes palace square!

I hope it was just a reflection. A wall of such historical value shouldn't have graffiti.

So this is done with a light from across the street? This looks like an old defensive wall, what with the out-slope near the top and spaces for archers. Perhaps only an elegant woman in shoes not made for climbing can conquer the town.

Nathalie, I enlarged the photograph, but I was still unable to read the words underneath the stilleto...Hmmm...I will take a guess and say that it's an announcement for a cafe called...
Louie the XVI and Marie.

DeeDee ;-D

Yes Bob it is an old defensive wall, it's a portion of the ramparts that circumscribe the old town.
And yes again it's from a light coming from across the street, which made me think that it couldn't possibly be an individual's initiative.

Then I managed to read the caption beneath the shoe "la mode est côté cité" which means "fashion is in the city".

It matches a regular street ad campaign where the caption was "les vrais soldes sont côté cité" - real sales are in the city.

All of this being an advertising campaign orchestrated by the city centre shop owners' association aimed at getting people to shop in the old city centre rather than in the large out of town shopping centres.

To me this green stiletto is a totally new form of advertising - I'd never seen projections on a wall before.

Have you seen something similar in your country?
