Theme day: lines

Curved lines, straight lines, two ways of approaching today's theme day for City Daily Photo bloggers.
Top photo: art nouveau facade of the Palace Cinema, rue de la république.
Bottom photo: pavement in Place Crillon, afternoon light.
Which one do you prefer? I strongly recommend you go and see how the theme is being treated under different skies: click here for thumbnail photos of all 164 participants.

To those of you who had seen my earlier post about sandwiches vs. long lunches, I have to apologize, I just replaced it by this one. I had forgotten about the theme day. The sandwich post will reappear tomorrow O2 October.

A bientôt

Both great photos for theme day. My preference is for the 2nd photo. It has more interest in it. I think I would like to wander around this quarter deciding where to stop for a coffee.

Funnily enough I tried commenting on the sandwich post and Blogger wouldn't let me. I thought it a good post as it showed lines of sandwiches! Look forward to seeing it again tomorrow.

I love both of the photographs you've now posted but do prefer the first one. It's such a strong image. Love tho the relaxed atmosphere of the second one. Both fab as always, of course!

Very good post! Shown everyone that lines are not confined to being straight! Loved it!

Our Semestral Breaks in a week! But the requirements, never lesser! Please pray for me for the coming hectic days! mabuhay and God Bless!

These are the most elegant, exquisite lines on the first one and the most geometric on the second. Well thought out.

I like them both, but for very different reasons. I don't see much art nouveau in my side of Metro Manila, so the first is interesting because of that. But I like the second because it looks like a wonderful place to hang out!

Great lines! I love that sidewalk! I'll have to check back about the sandwiches, I'm intrigued :)

Well the sandwich was so tasty, that I will be happy for a second helping tomorrow. I can't choose between these two imagess today. Both are great for different reasons. Love the curves but that "almost" black and white image with the gray squares keeps drawing my eye back. the light is so soft and nice.
YUMMY

T'as des copains rue Mazan ?

Chuck Pefley said...

Not sure why my mind automatically thought "straight" lines. Tunnel vision, I suspect. Thanks for throwing us a curve :)

Anonymous said...

Baudelaire :

Doesn't work for me at all. I LOVE movement that moves the lines around...

Who are you, anonymous? How about adding a first name to your comment? It would be nice!

Do like the top one - very art nouveau and eye-catching!!!!

But the soft light on the paving is very evocative as well....hmmm decisions!! decisions!!

The top photo is indeed lovely. I love the sense of movement and the grace of the image. I like the other also, but the top definitely appeals to me.
