Galerie du Pharo

Galerie du Pharo, a private art gallery in rue Joseph Vernet showcases an interesting collection of contemporary sculptures at the moment, here in the afternoon sun. Are you sensitive to such pieces ? Do you have a favorite among those you see?

The 1st shot is just great! I think my favorite sculpture is the one in the foreground.

Bien vu Bergso !.

The more I look the more I change my mind. I love the middle one because of the casual pose, but the woman on the far right is so ethereal and the texture is amazing. Well shot Nathalie!

The relaxed pose of the centre sculpture attracts the eye but look at the texture of the base of the sculpture. It sparkles in your photo beautifully.

Nathalie
...and I like the young girl in the 1st shot, her mouth with the upper lip as one of a little girl
sulking. A sort of Lee Miller.

magnifique Nathalie.

I guess your own preference may be for the middle one, shown twice! After some hesitating I may go for the one on the right!

The one in the left foreground of the top photo seems to be channelling Degas.

There is a Monet & Impressionists exhibition on at AGNSW at the moment - and YES ! That Man With The Name We Couldn't Remember! (Cezanne) is also represented :-) And there's a Degas exhib coming to Canberra. Maybe when I've finished Sculpture By The Sea it will have to be off to the AG!

I don't think it is possible to develop a reaction to a sculpture from a photo. Difficult enough for a painting! However the photo is delightful - that hand, and the profile....

I agree with richard - the other richard. I think these look a bit "commercial", but then who is to say that is bad thing. The one in he middle reminds me of the photo you took a few weeks ago of the boy perched on a edge. However when you try and translate this into a sculpture it becomes static. The one on the right is a Giacometti rip-off - I hope you are not going to come back and tell me it's a real Giacometti, otherwise I will have to stop blogging.

Agree about the photo and the use of the foreground
