"NO ...." is the theme on this 1st of July, monthly theme day for City Daily Photo bloggers.
What if the ultimate response to the theme was NO PHOTO? Blogspot won't let me upload mine. But I have the perfect response to that: conceptual art. It is here, in this perfect vacuum, that the artist reveals the ultimate NO. Denied his work, the artist is denied any existence at all and so takes us with him in the downward spiral of void that leads to the perfect no : non existence. By letting us experience denial, emptiness and absence, he connects us with our ultimate fear, that of disappearing ourselves from the face of the Earth...
The art critics among you are welcome to expand on the subject of this mind-bogging (mind blogging?) experience. Others, when you've finished laughing, come back later for a new post - with photo.

This is a very inspirational thought-provoking post. One always wonders what the heck is going on when we find ourselves blocked. And I'm sure you have a superb photo as you always do too!
Grrr... I just heard that word "conceptual art", so I need to put my critic hat on. I don't mind "conceptual" but art should inspire more than the intellect. When the Dada movement started it was not an art movement at all - it was if anything anti-art. However as soon as commercial instincts got hold of it it became marketable and suddenly became an "art movement" albeit briefly, but it spawned the current obsession with conceptual art which in my opinion has diluted the value and depth of the art produced today.
A similar thing is happening with photography where boring images of street intersections and the like are elevated beyond belief. In my opinion it's rather easy to dream up a concept, anything goes, and also rather lazy
... *chortle* ...

...* ROTFL* ...

Go riposte, Madame!!
