Secret courtyards

Rue des trois faucons
Avignon hides a remarkable number of delightful private courtyards. Some hide behind heavy wooden doors, some are open for visitors to see, when they are curious enough to look under a dark porch.

Private courtyards often offer nice suprises! This one looks really nice! With a bit of luck, there are some friendly persons who sometimes open the gates. (To start with, you must of course be curious enough to look for them!)

Oh, one of my favourite things to do in Europe is to walk along and peer into coutrtyards whenever the opportunity presents itself. Usually a whole other world!

I like the idea of courtyards. I remember in Arizona a lot of people had them and they were delightful.

Love the natural 'framing' you have created with the composition - the gate's design detail and openness is so welcoming.

This is a very pretty gate. I'd like a courtyard like that if I lived in a town or city.
