When bloggers meet

Gorbio
It's always a joy when bloggers meet and move from virtual friendships to real life ones. That's what happened when I visited Jilly of Menton Daily Photo last weekend. We got along so well you would have thought we'd known each other for years - which in a way was the case even if only through our blogs. She took me to the lovely hilltop village of Gorbio. Jilly is becoming a master at portraits (just see this one) so my top photo is a tribute to her style which I so admire. Behind this man is the beautifully textured trunk of the massive elm (not olive tree) that welcomes visitors on the village square. I like the strength that both man and tree seem to have.

Wish I could have joined you on your trip to Menton!! I love this city. It is so funny but the picture of the man by the olive tree looks just like my Father in Law from Provence!

I think its a great idea to meet up. I have several virtual friends here in Thailand and would like to do the same this year.

The photographs are very good for different reasons, I love the character of the first, and the second is a perfect sea/landscape with an appealing subject in the middle.

Love the photos, Nathalie and your kind words. I miss you already. The old man and his dog - so lovely. And the photo of the village is probably the best I've ever seen of Gorbio. Love it.

Hop over to Menton DP and you'll see your beautiful self and on Monte Carlo, you'll find your very own Bentley, taken by you!

Interesting post and nice photos - just how old is that Olive tree?

On the same subject, I actually got to meet Peter last week - but then everyone has met Peter haven't they! :-)

Did you note head and butt of the dog are not in good order... ?

A mercredi ;-)

Adam, the olive tree in Gorbio was planted in 1713 and it's a hollow tree. I plan on putting a photo of it on Menton Daily Photo, showing the hollow part at some time in the future. It's amazing, being so old, and hollow, yet comes into full leaf each spring.

I always thought how wondeful it must be to meet up with those we converse with. Beautiful portrait and I agree Jilly has really mastered this style of photography.

Tu as entièrement raison Nathalie.

Jilly corrected me on the fact that the tree was a very old elm, not an olive tree. My apologies to the inhabitants of Gorbio who are rightly proud of their rare tree.
