Sun worshipper

Yes of course those of you who mentioned the sunflower (tournesol in French) were right. Look at the flower's heart carefully, you'll see the maturation process making progress from the outside to the center.

They are such amazing flowers, and these are gorgeous photos of them. That bee must be in heaven.

Perfect, just perfect! My son grew sunflowers in a large pot a few summers ago. One grew quite large. It was so much fun to watch the flowers form & then start to open.

Your photos are stunning!! We have visited Avignon in June 2005 and I bought a lovely bright tablecloth with sunflowers printed on it at one of the shops close to the Pont du Gard. I want to go back to Provence one day!!

It is in this stage of development that the American Gold Finch birds love to pull the immature seeds out and eat them. I just took a lot of pictures of them doing that yesterday.

A very nice set of two photographs. Fields of sunflower are becoming a better deal for farmers than some other crops although there is a big rush on now to plant corn to use for fuel.

This post any yesterday's are the essence of Provence. Add some lavender and we could smell the perfume of the pictures.
