One year on...

Avignon in Photos is celebrating its first anniversary today. On this occasion, meet the author!
One year ago I was just back from Sydney, Australia, where I used to run a City Daily Photo blog called Sydney Daily Snap. Some of you know me from those days. At first I was determined I wouldn't start an Avignon Daily Photo. My first blog was about my love story with Sydney, no way I would start taking photos here! Never say never: three weeks later Avignon in Photos was born. My first post set the pace: there wasn't going to be more than two or three posts a week - late February, Avignon in Photos became daily. I must say that Avignon is a touristic star that lends itself to photography with some complacency, especially in summer, but I hope that following me year round you've also learnt a bit more about local life.

Avignon in Photos célèbre aujourd'hui son premier anniversaire.
En février, Avignon in Photos devenait quotidien.

Guess Who, can you really believe my photo was framed that way by mistake? See you next year for the other half.

See, I wrote “Happy Anniversary”, only then I got that damnable Little River Band song stuck in my head.

SO I shall say, “Happy Blog Birthday” instead.

Happy anniversary, Nathalie. I began coming to your Sydney Daily Snap and then followed you here in Avignon in Photos. I think both your blogs were/are special. I have enjoyed your blogs and your narratives but more than those I have really looked forward to your photographs. Which, I hasten to add, are a joy to see too.

Ah, the fabulous Ms. Nathalie, or at least one quarter of her! It's good to see you looking relaxed, tan, and fit toward the end of this fine summer.

I have so enjoyed your blogs. Your photography and writing are first rate (in any language!), and your candor, creativity, and eye for beauty I greatly appreciate.

-Kim

Oh I'm so sorry I missed your anniversary yesterday. But - Happy Anniversary. I loved your Sydney blog and I love your Avignon blog. I've told you often how you inspire me. Your photographs, your writing, your creativity - always different, always one jump ahead, always inspiring.

How amazing to think today's photo was taken by mistake. I assumed you had cropped it - well, yes, next year perhaps the whole beautiful Nathalie - who looks SO French. Your look is everything I think of in a French woman - slim, beautiful, chic.

Happy birthday...I used to follow your Sydney blog. After my break from blogging I didn't associate the Nathalie of Avignon with the Nathalie of Sydney.
Same lovely photos too..
