Winter beauty

After a final look at the shiny black ball drifting further down the river (see yesterday's post), I turned around and walked back upstream towards the Pont Saint Benezet, all glow in the final rays of a pale winter sun. I never fail to be amazed by the elegant design of its arches.

That is such a beautiful photo. I was going through some old photos yesterday and came across some of the same bridge.

I don't even really know what to say. It just feels wonderful to look at. Maybe that's all I need to say... :)

Looks like the snow has vanished now ? But even in winter the buses of tourists are visible there... Nice reflections in the water... a scene one does not tire of seeing from any angle...

Allez, hop!

Oh oui, oh oui, Chri, oh oui !

I hesitate to ask for I'm sure you have explained it in a past post, but why is the bridge only half standing now?

I don't see the ball in the photo but i assume our little friend did not get it back. I hope poppa bought him another one and that momma went home and had a glass of wine and got a grip! HA

What a beautiful photograph...I especially like the look of the very "elegantly" designed arches too!
Merci de partager!

Virginia, the bridge was rebuilt many times between the middle ages and the 17th century but when yet another flood took the bridge away in 1669 only five years after it had been rebuilt, the locals decided the spot maybe wasn't right and decided to build a new one further downstream - a wooden one for many years. The location has been kept for the modern bridge you saw in yesterday's post.
