Joucas, art & snow

Joucas
Their are few more pleasing combinations to the eye than ancient architecture and contemporary art. A stroll through the old village of Joucas is a feast for the eyes. On almost every street corner and litle square a new surprise awaits. The works are by Marion Heybroek and Ulysses Plaud, a couple of artists who live here.
Cherry on the cake, the snow adds a touch of magic...

Tomorrow I shall take you where it all began...

What a beautiful village. Somewhat slippery and dangerous in snow and ice, I'd think. How beautifully modern goes with old. My favourite has to be two figures in the snow although I love the detail in other shots. All beautiful. How far is this village from Avignon. I assume it's still in the Vaucluse?

Nathalie said...

Oh yes Jilly this is definitely still in the department of Vaucluse. Joucas is a 50 minute drive east of Avignon, towards Apt.

I know the place (summer time only); one of my first bosses had his origins here.
Yes,I agree about how nice the combination of contemporary art and the "old" can be and often is! It's obvious that this environment encourages art in general!

Bises Nathalie...
