Cool canoes

Fontaine de VaucluseDo you remember a post called Fast and Furious I did in January 2010 in which I showed the Sorgue river flowing at full winter speed? Here's the same stream taken from the same bridge, one view looking down and one looking up - but summer fashion. The naked branch you saw then is the leafy one you see now. The water runs cool and clear and if you rent a kayak or canoe you can spend a delightful couple of hours paddling downstream from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse to l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

This looks so pretty and fresh and cool - no guessing how hot it was today and will be tomorrow!

What a fantastic contrast to the winter version of this same river. The reflections in the first picture are amazing, the way they taper off makes the water look so deep. Beautiful image.

Beautiful cool green water ! And nothing like a kayak trip in a beautiful place. In July we kayaked down les Gorges du Tarn... it was heaven.
